What is ICAN? What do they do?
ICAN stands for International Cesarean Awareness Network and supports all families affected by surgical birth. Whether you're recovering from a cesarean, trying to avoid a cesarean, or working to have a better cesarean, ICAN is here for you. We also support women in their efforts for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). It can be hard to navigate the risks versus the benefits of each and our support group can be a great resource to families. And here's ICAN's great mission statement: The International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC).
